We look forward to meeting you during a 30-minute appointment. If you cannot find an appointment time that works with your schedule, we encourage you to utilize same day appointments (see below).
Types of Appointments
Career Development has a range of appointments to fit wherever you are in your career path, even if you don't know what question to ask!
Same Day Appointments
Click here to sign up for a same day appointment
We also offer same day appointments, which are 15-minute meetings with a career counselor for support with internship/job searches, resumes, cover letters, or any other quick question or concern. Please note that we only hold same day appointments during the semester while classes are in session (not during summer, winter or spring breaks).
Same day appointment hours:
- Monday-Friday 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm
Students can sign up for a same day appointment slot starting at 8:45am each day and up to the time of the appointment slot. For example, if it is 2:29pm and there is a slot available at 2:30pm, a student can sign up for that slot.
Notes on scheduling:
- Students must schedule via the link above for same day appointments.
- If there are no times listed on the same day bookings page, then all of the same day appointment slots have been reserved for that day. If there are no open slots, please try again the following day.
- Same day appointments may be virtual or in-person. You will receive a confirmation email with a link to join if you choose virtual.
Resume Reviews
- There are two Resume Review appointments: initial and follow up.
- The “Resume Review, initial appointment” is for a first look at a resume. We recommend this for first year students, students submitting resumes for student organizations, or any other student or alum who would like an introductory resume review. The appointment may be with a Student Career Advisor or a career counselor. Appointments with a Student Career Advisor will be in-person only.
- The “Resume Review, follow up” appointment is for those who have had an initial appointment and have made revisions to their resume, and would like a second (or third or fourth) review. Follow up appointments will be with career counselors only.
- Cover letters may also be reviewed during a resume review, and vice versa.
- Students may also schedule a Same Day appointment for a resume review.
Policies
Resources and appointment policy
In order to use services and resources offered by A&S Career Development, students must be currently matriculated and enrolled in courses at the College of Arts & Sciences.
- Students are limited to ONE appointment per day and no more than TWO appointment per week unless otherwise approved by one of our counselors. Any appointments in excess of this policy are subject to cancellation.
- Alumni who have graduated from A&S within the last 5 years may meet with our staff members in person, or via video chat.
- We will, on occasion, meet with current students from other colleges; these appointments are arranged on a case-by-case basis.
Practice interview policy
In addition to regular appointments, students may also schedule practice interviews with staff members in our office.
- Both behavioral and case practice interviews are available.
- For behavioral practice interviews, students should submit a copy of a resume and a job description for a position of interest.
Recruiting, employer communication and interview policy
Students who are participating in on-campus recruiting and interviewing at Cornell must familiarize themselves with the policies as outlined by Cornell University Career Services, especially policies applying to cancelling interviews, reneging on offers, falsifying information, and best practices for approaching employers. Further, we do not release contact information for alumni or recruiters for career-related purposes without their explicit permission to do so.
Students participating in LinkedIn or career-related communication via social media are expected to adhere to the NACE standards for professional practice.
