What accomplishments/activities are you most proud of while at Cornell?

Outside of academics, I'm proud of my involvement with a Chinese yo-yo/diabolo team that was started just last year. As part of the Cornell Taiwanese American Society, we spread Taiwanese (and in general Asian) culture by teaching Chinese yo-yo to other students and also by performing in various shows throughout the year.

What, if any, research projects did you participate in at Cornell?

I've been very involved in research since the summer after my sophomore year. I spent two summers at Cornell doing research with a couple professors in the math department, one of whom I continued to do research with in both my junior and my senior years. I'm especially proud of the research I did over the summer between my sophomore and junior year. Not only were the problems I tackled in this research experience interesting in their own right, as they drew connections between two different branches of math, but they also had profound applications in an area of very active research in mathematics.

What do you value about your liberal arts education?

A liberal arts education, though perhaps not too relevant to my major, has really opened my eyes to a wide variety of disciplines that I otherwise would not have seen. I took classes in Chinese literature, modern history, linguistic psychology, and more — all which exposed me to different ways of viewing the world.
