Current research project:
My main work leverages new data on healthcare contracts to understand the consequences of various aspects of the American healthcare system and formalizes what we can and cannot learn from this type of data. I also study the interaction of physician incentives with hospital—supplier bargaining and propose simple approaches for causal inference in the absence of usual simplifying assumptions.

In an unexpected twist, my wife has made me into a diehard Ohio State football fan. I also enjoy playing tennis, hiking and reading.
Courses you’re most looking forward to teaching:
I am looking forward to courses that help students develop skills to think and learn about the world for themselves. I would love to teach a class that helps students leverage new public data on American healthcare, which would also be a fun experience in working at the frontiers of what we understand.
What most excites you about Cornell:
The community of thoughtful and talented people with a spirit of inquiry. The campus is a close second.
