Why did you choose Cornell?

I came to Cornell for the first time for Diversity Hosting. I had very little knowledge of mainland US universities, since my parents both attended the University of Puerto Rico, and I had never lived anywhere outside of the island. As soon as I stepped foot on the Cornell campus, I felt like I was home. It was during my time here that my parents and I decided that it would be my new home for the next four years.

What have you accomplished as a Cornell student that you are most proud of, either inside the classroom or otherwise?

I have learned to find my voice and be heard in my classes. I have grown from the shy girl who did not want to speak up in class to becoming more active in the discussions.

Who or what influenced your Cornell education the most? How or why?

My best friend, Mónica De León '17, has influenced my education the most at Cornell. Not only was she an amazing friend, but she was also my role model my first two years at Cornell. She encouraged me to work hard and to go out of my comfort zone and create opportunities. She is the first person I call when something is wrong, as well as the first person who knows when I've accomplished something. I have many thanks to give her, but especially for encouraging me not to give up!
