Thanks to a fellowship from Cornell’s Southeast Asia Program, Javier Agredo’19 is spending the summer studying Thai at the University of Wisconsin Madison’s Southeast Asian Studies Summer Institute. Agredo, who has a passion for language documentation and preservation, has also had the chance to attend Gamelan performances, a traditional musical ensemble from Indonesia, and explore the city of Madison.
Ding Xiang Warner, professor of Chinese literature in the Department of Asian Studies, was honored April 10 with a fellowship from the American Council of Learned Societies.
Samuel Barnett ’19 has been named one of 11 junior fellows by the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.Barnett, a College Scholar whose studies focus on national security and geopolitics, will spend his fellowship year working with Carnegie’s executive office on issues of U.S. foreign policy and diplomacy.
Twenty-four faculty members, representing six colleges and the Cornell University Library, have been named to the Engaged Faculty Fellowship Program.The 2019-20 cohort, the largest in the seven-year history of the program, joins more than 50 other faculty fellows dedicated to advancing community-engaged learning at Cornell and within their respective fields.
