Robert Katz

Overview

Mr. Katz is a senior director of The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc., headquartered in New York City. He joined Goldman Sachs as a partner in 1988, became a member of the Management Committee in 1992, a member of the Partnership Committee in 1995, and served as the firm's general counsel from 1988 through 2000. Prior to Goldman Sachs, he practiced at Sullivan & Cromwell, which he joined in 1974 and where he became a partner in 1980.

Mr. Katz is chair of the Dean's Advisory Board of Harvard Law School and a member of the Committee on University Resources of Harvard University. He has served as a member and a vice chair of the Board of Trustees of Cornell University, Chair of the Committee on Board Composition and Governance, a member of the Executive Committee and various other committees, as well as national chair of the Annual Fund and a vice chair of Cornell Now! Mr. Katz is now a trustee emeritus and Presidential Councillor of Cornell University, and a member of the Board of Overseers of Weill Cornell Medical College. Mr. Katz is chair of the Board of Councilors of the USC Shoah Foundation, chair emeritus of the Board of Trustees of Horace Mann School, a member and former chair of the Board of Directors of Achilles International, a trustee of the Goldman Sachs Foundation and of the Goldman Sachs Charitable Gift Fund, a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a trustee emeritus of the Allen-Stevenson School, a former president of the Institute on Judicial Administration, and a former trustee of Prep for Prep.
