Overview
Razima Chowdhury received her B.A. in English Literature & Language and M.A. in Applied Linguistics and English Language Teaching from the University of Dhaka in Bangladesh. She also received an M.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from the Institute of Education, University College London as a Centenary Scholar.
Research Focus
Razima converted her ESL training and teaching experience to developing programs for Bangla as a foreign language both in Bangladesh and in the USA. She taught Bangla at Syracuse University via videoconferencing from Cornell University as a Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA). She taught, administered, and developed intensive immersion language programs for Bangla in Dhaka, Bangladesh at the Independent University as the Institute Director for the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program and during academic year long programs for Fulbright, Boren, and Foreign Language Area Studies (FLAS) award recipients from 2010-2016. She also taught elementary and intermediate Bangla and served as the Pedagogy Coordinator for Less Commonly Taught Languages (LCTL) at the South Asia Summer Language Institute (SASLI) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 2016-2019.
