Overview
Helen Nivison obtained a Ph.D. in Plant Physiology from the University of California at Davis, where she studied Rubisco synthesis in chloroplasts. She continued her studies of protein expression in chloroplasts as a post doctoral fellow in Andre Jagendorf`s laboratory at Cornell University. She then assumed a two-year term appointment as Assistant Professor in the Biology Department at the University of Virginia and taught classes in plant physiology, plant development, and plant molecular biology, and also undertook research in plant mitochondrial gene expression. She continued her teaching and research as Assistant Professor of Biology at the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina. Currently she is a Senior Lecturer in Cornell`s Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics. She teaches both laboratory and lecture classes on topics in biochemistry and molecular biology.
