Ed Colloton

Overview

Ed Colloton retired as a managing partner from Bessemer Venture Partners, where for nearly twenty years he was chair of the firm’s investment and management committees and led the operations of the firm.

Previously, Ed was a partner at J.P. Morgan Capital, the private equity arm of J.P. Morgan. Prior to that, Ed was a private equity lawyer at Davis Polk & Wardwell.

While on active duty in the U.S. Navy, Ed served as a representative for international negotiations at the Joint Chiefs of Staff, where he was awarded a Navy Commendation medal by the Secretary of Defense.  Ed also served as navigator and combat information center officer onboard USS Boulder in the U.S. Atlantic Fleet.

Ed has been featured on the Forbes Midas List of top venture capitalists. He currently serves as co-chair of Outward Bound California, which provides expeditions that inspire strength of character, leadership and service to others.  Ed is on the advisory board of Cornell Outdoor Education and serves on the Dean’s advisory council at Harvard Law School.  Ed and his wife, Eve, live in the Bay Area with their two children.
