Carolyn Seely Wiener

Overview

Mrs. Wiener is currently an Overseer of Weill Cornell Medicine and is the Chairwoman of the Foundation for a Civil Society.  She retired as a counsel to the Republican leader of the Senate, then Senator Bob Dole of Kansas, and has been a partner at Powell, Goldstein, Frazer & Murphy.

She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations (Member, Delegation to China 1992) and Director of the Malcolm Hewitt Wiener Foundation.

In the past, Carolyn has served on the Board of Trustees at several academic institutions including Choate Rosemary Hall, Institute for Aegean Prehistory, Institute for Aegean Prehistory Study Center for East Crete, Center for National Policy, New York Historical Society, Horace Mann School, and Greenwich Academy.

Carolyn received her BA from Cornell University in 1969 (Alpha Lambda Delta); MFA from Yale University, 1972; and J.D. from Columbia University Law School, 1976 where she was a Kent Scholar and Stone Scholar.

Carolyn is married to Malcolm Hewitt Wiener, an Aegean prehistorian, retired principal in an investment management firm, and philanthropist.  They have four grown children (one currently at Cornell!) and reside in Greenwich, CT.
