Overview
Adam Schoene received B.A. and M.A. degrees in French and International Relations from Tufts University and its Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, and a Ph.D. in Romance Studies from Cornell University. He is currently at work on a book project that interrogates the politics of silence in fictional depictions of despotism, on another project that recasts conceptions of nationalité through the cosmopolitan lens of global migration narratives, and he is collaborating with an international team of scholars to co-edit a volume on Participation, Collaboration, Association with Honoré Champion.
He held fellowships at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies and at the University of Geneva, and positions at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs at Harvard University, the Tufts University European Center, Swiss Semester, the Center for International Environmental Law, the Institute for Global Maritime Studies, the International Language Center, the French Cultural Center, Concordia Language Villages, and WilmerHale.
His work appears or is forthcoming in journals such as Eighteenth-Century Studies, The French Review, George Sand Studies, The Journal of North African Studies, Law and Humanities, Lumen, and Studies in Eighteenth-Century Culture, and in a range of edited volumes. He served on the Editorial Board of Diacritics, and he is Managing Editor of Eighteenth-Century Studies. He is also a Visiting Scholar in the Department of French and Romance Philology at Columbia University.
