Turkewitz graduated with a degree in government, and went on the receive an MBA from Columbia Business School in 1998. He began his career as co-founder and chief operating officer for the Student Advantage Program, an integrated media and commerce company focused on the higher education market.
He then pursued investment banking as an associate with Merrill Lynch & Co. in their Media Investment Banking Group and then with Goldman Sachs’ Mergers and Acquisitions Group. Turkewitz currently works at Zelnick Media Capital (ZMC), a private equity fund focused on investing in and acquiring media, entertainment and communications companies. Turkewitz’s role focuses on originating, structuring and monitoring the firm’s investments. He also represents ZMC on the board of 9 Story Media Group, Alloy, L.L.C and Defy Media.
During the Career Conversation, Turkewitz will join Mike Nazzaro ‘20 to focus on frequently asked questions about the finance world and how to enter the field of private equity. In addition to vocational advice, Turkewitz also plans to discuss personal aspects of success. “Real success is more than career goals, it’s being the person you aspire to be,” he said. “You will improve your chances for success by pursuing your passions and interests.”
