Chief Adjuah will perform in the next Cornell Concert Series (CCS) production on Friday, March 7 at 7:30 p.m. in Bailey Hall.
Chief Xian aTunde Adjuah (formerly Christian Scott) has been celebrated as a two-time Edison Award winner, six-time Grammy nominee, and recipient of the Doris Duke Award in the Arts. He will take the stage at Bailey with his five-piece band.
A sonic architect, trumpeter, multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer and designer of musical technologies and instruments, he is the driving force behind “Stretch Music," a form that combines jazz with diverse musical traditions from around the world.
NPR has hailed Adjuah as “ushering in a new era of jazz" and JazzTimes called him “jazz’s young style God."
The performance is made possible in part through the Jazz Touring Network program of Mid Atlantic Arts with support from the National Endowment for the Arts.
Artist and program information, subscriptions, single tickets, and student memberships are available through the CCS website, cornellconcertseries.com.
