Overview
Sean Linfors is glad to be joining the Cornell faculty for Fall 2025, serving as Visiting Lecturer in the Department of Music and directing the Cornell Glee Club and Chorus. He is an Associate Professor of Music Education at Ithaca College, where he directs ensembles and has taught choral methods, choral conducting, and choral literature. His academic interests are secondary choral music education and performance and lifelong music-making. He received his degrees from the University of Richmond and Florida State University, studying with André Thomas, and he taught public school in Florida and Virginia. Linfors is the Artistic Director of two community ensembles, the Syracuse Chorale and the Cayuga Vocal Ensemble. Ensembles under Linfors’ direction have been featured at ACDA national and regional conferences. Linfors' Ithaca College Choir was awarded the 2023 American Prize in Choral Performance for larger collegiate programs. Recent performances have included Reena Esmail’s This Love Between Us, Margaret Bonds’ Credo, and Carol Barnett’s Bluegrass Mass, and in May 2025, he premiered the cantata Stella Maris by Sally Lamb McCune.
