Research Focus
My research broadly investigates how morality, norms, and rules shape social cognition. I draw on insights from social psychology, cognitive science, law, and philosophy, and leverage a range of methods, including surveys, observational data, behavioral experiments, and neuroimaging. I’m particularly interested in people’s judgments about rules and rule-breakers, and why people are so curious to learn about moral deviance. One thing I find especially compelling is that people are often drawn to moral badness not in spite of its wrongness, but because of it.
