Emily Epperson

Overview

Emily Epperson joined Cornell’s Department of Romance Studies in 2023 after earning her PhD in French from Harvard University. Before coming to Cornell, she worked as a Pedagogy Fellow at Harvard’s Derek Bok Center for Teaching & Learning and studied, taught, and conducted research in France. 

Passionate about language learning through authentic texts—including film, music, and literature—Emily teaches French language and culture courses at Cornell. In 2024-25 she is the coordinator of Elementary French (FREN 1210 and 1220). Her interests include second language acquisition and pedagogy, early modern French literature, and enjoying Ithaca’s many opportunities for outdoor adventures.
