Class of 2019
Hometown: Fayetteville, AR
What is your College Scholar project?
Soundscape Studies - I am particularly interested in acoustic ecology. This involves the making of field recordings of the environment, but can also be utilized for anthropological studies.
What are your most important extra-curricular activities?
Classical piano, outdoor education.
Talk about any summer internships or programs you’ve attended.
I attended a composition festival in Maine as a recording engineer intern. Upon returning, a professor prompted me to question what really makes me happy in my work, and I think that I would like most to be outside instead of inside a recording studio.
What do you dream of doing after graduation?
I dream of becoming a professional musician - classical piano, and jazz bass. I also dream of being able to take expeditions in the great outdoors to push my body and mind to their limits and record rare and endangered soundscapes with the intention of bringing public awareness to the importance of focused listening, and soundscape conservation, as well as a general awareness for ecological conservation.
