Naya received her BS from Rutgers University in geology and her MS in teaching from Pace University. She enjoys traveling and assists her husband on geologic expeditions to collect samples for his research from time to time. In her sophomore year in college, she traveled to Costa Rica for a field project and became obsessed with traveling. Since then, she has visited (sometimes multiple trips) multiple states in the U.S., Cambodia, Canada, Costa Rica, Curacao, Czech Republic, Italy, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Spain, and Vietnam (her birthplace). Her favorite places thus far are the Aeolian Islands in Italy because the food there is amazing; the Big Island of Hawaii because of its landscape; and Lanzarote in the Canary Islands because of the unique way grapes are grown to produce wine. She enjoys living in Ithaca and appreciates the local farms, cideries, and wineries the Finger Lakes region offers. Naya is a great gardener and also a great petmom to two sassy miniature schnauzers. She has too many hobbies and they change constantly depending on her mood but learning and experiencing new things are always her top priorities. Through academic advising, she hopes to instill confidence in students and challenge them to experience things that will help them become well-rounded.
