Will Beijing cut Trump some slack after that phone call with Taiwan?

Jessica Chen Weiss, associate professor of government, joins with Kacie Miura, a PhD candidate in political science at MIT, to write this opinion piece in the Washington Post about President-elect Donald Trump's phone conversation with Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen, which broke decades of diplomatic protocol. 

"Our research points to two sources of moderation in Beijing’s foreign policy. These tendencies suggest Beijing will hold off on any radical countermeasures until after Trump takes office," they write.
