Independent Study

Cornell University Cornell University College of Arts and Sciences Cornell University

College of Arts and Sciences, Liberal Arts at Cornell University

Students who plan to do independent study must write a proposal for their project. Proposal forms are available in Academic Advising, G-55 and 172 Goldwin Smith Hall. You must first see your advising dean. Then the form, signed by the appropriate people and stamped by the department must be handed in no later than the seventh week of the term. Completed forms must be submitted to the Academic Advising Office.

Independent study projects can vary widely and should be motivated by your personal academic interests.

Independent study is different from an Independent Major.
