China and Asia-Pacific Studies
Cornell's unique new undergraduate major in China and Asia - Pacific Studies (CAPS) is designed to train future leaders who are equipped to address the inevitable challenges and negotiate the delicate complexities in U.S. - China relations. With four years of intensive Chinese language training and two semesters of externships in Washington, D.C. and Beijing respectively, the unique and ambitious program offers CAPS majors unprecedented pre-professional training mapped onto a solid Cornell liberal arts education.
Students can also take advantage of the only program in the United States that allows intensive study of Chinese all day, every day and year-round. In both Washington, D.C., and Beijing, CAPS majors gain unique experience through China-related externships in government agencies, embassies, newspapers, television networks, museums, businesses, law firms, NGOs and other organizations.
