Funding Summer and Other Service Experiences

While many organizations pay students for internship experiences, others, such as government and political groups, media companies and non-profits, do not.  Additionally, many students identify volunteer opportunities around the world which require some money for travel and minor living expenses.

In order to support you in participating in opportunities of interest, Arts & Sciences Career Services aims to remove funding as a barrier in your decision-making process.  Tips and resources for identifying summer funding are outlined below.  We encourage you to make an appointment with a staff member to discuss your specific situation.

To get started you might want to start with the Cornell Career Services Library searchable database. It includes information about grants and fellowships. Also check out Cornell-affiliated programs and grants

Search tips:
Search under Barnes Library. Try a one-word search first, then two or three words to identify fewer resources more targeted to your interest. If you type in “fellowships” you will get over 100 results.  If you type “fellowships summer” you will get only those offered in the summer – 40+. You can narrow your search further by adding a third word such as “research”, “New York”, “health”, “minority”, “government”, “policy”, etc.
