Hatfield Award

The Program on Ethics and Public Life and Arts & Sciences Career Services are pleased to announce the Robert S. Hatfield Award for the study of ethics in business.

 

Robert S. Hatfield, was a loyal supporter of Cornell University and an esteemed businessman. The Chairman and CEO of the Continental Group, Mr. Hatfield believed strongly in the need to promote ethical business practices both in large and small companies. The award is designated to honor this legacy and to assist in the research and study of ethics in business.

The Robert S. Hatfield Award will be granted annually. Each spring, up to $1,000.00 will be awarded to an undergraduate, graduate student, or faculty member with a demonstrated interest in studying ethical considerations in business. The award can be used to help fund a research project, to attend a conference, or to defray travel costs to visit a corporate executive, with the purpose of studying the real life implications of ethics in business.

Applicants for the Hatfield Award must submit an application indicating their intended use for the award funds and how it is in accordance with the purpose of the fund. Applicants will be selected based upon the sufficiency of their funding need and the importance of the proposed work to the study of ethics in business.
